The Tulsa Ballet Presents Three Stunning Works for the History in Signature Series
Be sure to catch the latest installment of the Tulsa Ballet’s Signature Series as it takes the stage on May 3rd! Featuring three culturally stimulating and thought-provoking works meant to ignite conversation and action, this inciteful and entertaining program reminds us of the dangers in allowing history to repeat itself, and inspires us to keep moving forward.
Consistently its most interesting show of the year, this wonderful performance series from the Tulsa Ballet brings together an inspirational trio of performances for the whole community to enjoy. “The Green Table” is a crucially important dance work from 1932 made by German choreographer Kurt Jooss in a bleak historical moment between two wars. It’s an archetypal warning about history repeating itself, made in a groundbreaking style that combines cool irony with forthright emotion. “Rassemblement” by Nacho Duato explores themes of disenfranchisement and liberation in a dynamic, passionate dance that is set to Haitian folk songs, and a new work by the Tulsa Ballet’s resident choreographer, Ma Cong, completes the evening with an exciting display of innovative onstage talent.
These three, short works have been chosen by the Tulsa ballet’s artistic director Marcello Angelini to mix in a little bite with the regularly-scheduled beauty. They will be exclusively presented at this limited series of performances, so experience them live at the Lorton Performance Center!
